Mackinaw Island Michigan .com may be FOR SALE, Click here to make an offer!!!

Mackinaw Island is completely a summertime tourist resort island. The full time population of the island is only around 500-600 residents. Most of these people live in Harrisonville, a community located in the center of the Island. Others live downtown, at Stonecliffe, Woodbluff, and British Landing. On Mackinaw Island most businesses close up for the winter and reopen around the first week of May. Springtime is busy on the island and ferries resume their schedules after the ice breaks in early April and daily workers begin to return. Horses arrive ready to lose their winter coats and get back to work from their winter hiatus. Seasonal businesses open their doors in early May honoring Mother’s Day with the celebratory weekend fast becoming one of Michigan’s rites of spring. Visitors come to enjoy the beauty and tranquility of this island that seems lost in time, and to escape the heat of the cities. Businesses on the island cater to the tourists with accommodations, retail shops, art galleries, restaurants, the ferry, and summer rentals being the mainstay of the economy.
